17-18/02/2011 ICENUW conference (European Network against Undeclared Work)
At the ICENUW closing conference (Bruges, Belgium; 17-18 February 2011) the outcomes of the project were presented. Mr. Lhernould gave an overview on how a common understanding between inspection services could be improved by developing a catalogue. Mr. Morsa gave a practical example of how this catalogue could be useful for the daily work of an inspector. Next, Mr. Diaz presented the web application that was created to connect inspectors in an informal way. Thirdly, a report was presented by Mr. Sorcioni on how soft measures could make legal work more attractive. And finally, Mr. Jorens gave an overview of the advantages and hurdles of the current legal framework.
The next day of the conference was an occasion to present the final report "de lege ferenda", with suggestions for solutions to problems incurred today. The highlight of the conference was the signing of the Charter of Bruges, through which 15 managing authorities of inspection bodies from 11 participating countries expressed their support to the outcomes of the project and their willingness to further cooperate.
